Just back from a food photography shoot here in Westport, Mayo. I was working with master chef Alan Myburgh.

I must put together a gallery of food photography shots Ive done over the last year. Looking back over the last 12 months Ive been commissioned to do quite a bit of it in various hotels and restaurants around the West of Ireland. I must be doing something right :)

Landscape photos of sunset over the Partry mountains, Mayo

You dont have far to go around the West of Ireland to get lovely rugged landscape photos like these here. I really must go out and do a little more landscape photography. My main aim yesterday was to get some nice sky photos for stock use but as I drove up the mountains I could see the low sun beaming through the clouds. Perfect!

Looks like sunshine is on the cards for tomorrows wedding in Ballintubber Abbey, Mayo

Time to charge the few dozen batteries, wipe the memory cards, clean the lens & pack up the gadgets. Getting the gear ready for tomorrows wedding in Ballintubber Abbey, Mayo with reception in Hotel Westport.

Looks like we'll be getting nice weather too which is always great. In saying that, I got some amazing photos from the last wedding I done in Mulranny Hotel where the sun was nowhere to be seen for the most part of the day. This was one of the more darker arty ones taken.

All the way from Alabama, Angela & Robby

Well you know your in demand when a couple come all the way over from Alabama to have their wedding photos taken with you. OK..... they might have been on their honeymoon here also. Angela and Robby got married in Alabama but wanted to get some of their wedding portraits done in Ireland while on holiday. What a great idea. And choose me, what another great idea ;)

I arranged to meet them while they were visiting the Mayo Galway area. Luckily for me they were staying a night at Ashford Castle, Cong. Im never stuck for scenic locations when it comes to Cong.

Proof that you dont need an expensive camera to take some decent photos

I went for a quick walk with the dog this evening. Rather than the usual trip to the woods in Tourmakeady I decided to explore the mountain road behind us. I drove a mile past the house and pulled in when I saw this bog road. I was going to just walk along the main road (and I say 'main' road in comparison to that old bog road). But the bog road would mean that I could let Milly off the lead. Happy days for her.

As the sun was setting I was cursing myself for not having my camera with me. I decided to take a few snaps with my iphone that was just about to die. As Ive got busier with work I tend to not have as much time to take these kind of photos.

I have to say, I was pretty impressed by the quality of the photos that it produced. It goes to show you that you dont need a big expensive camera to take some decent photos. After I uploaded the photos to my computer I did a bit of retouching in Adobe Lightroom.

You can tell by the first photo that I was glad I had my waterproof boots on.
